Pantano: It was Amazing!

Q: Simply an amazing race - I don't even know where to start. What was it like to be in the driver's seat?

Giorgio Pantano: "It was amazing! I was there to win this race, and even on the last lap I was trying to overtake [Alex Premat] at the first turn but I got a bit loose for a few seconds, and I didn't have a chance at the last corners. I was quick, the car was working very well, and I think that everyone will enjoy this race. I was quite sure I was going to win this race, but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to overtake him."

Q: You and Alex were swapping fastest laps all the way, and you were both fighting so strongly.

Pantano: "Yeah - it was wonderful, and I think we both did a good job. I didn't make any mistakes, he didn't make any mistakes, and I didn't want to do something wrong trying to win the race - we tried just to make a good race."

Q: You must be pleased with how strong your race was.

Pantano: "Yeah, but I'm just a little disappointed because you always see me here at the front of the race, but we just need a win now. I'm also thinking that if we didn't have a few problems early with the car that I could probably be competing now for the Championship."

Q: Do you think there was anything that could have happened to switch the order around, such as the pitstop?

Pantano: "Probably - I was a little bit confused because normally [in the pitlane] there is ART and then our box, but this race there was Durango in front of us, which was a little confusing. I went into the Durango box at first, and I lost a little bit of time there, and also we changed all four tyres as well. But in the end I'm still quite positive, and quite happy."

Q: You had another strong start today...

Pantano: "I did - the last few races I've had some really good starts, and when they see me coming inside, like I did here, [Scott] Speed just closed me a little and I didn't want to break the suspension because it was very close to him hitting me. Unfortunately I think that it was a good chance to get in front."

Q: And with you being so quick for every lap today, you must be in good shape for tomorrow's race.

Pantano: "Yeah, I hope so. The car is doing very well, and I'm quite confident on this track and am glad to be here, so we'll see. I think the difficult thing is overtaking, but there are a few places where I think I can do it. I just need a very good race start, and then push hard."
