Mitch Evans moves to Russian Time for 2014 GP2 season

Russian Time won the teams' crown in its maiden season last year and came close to the drivers' title with Sam Bird.

The team had been created via the purchase of the iSport outfit at the start of the campaign.

But its founder Igor Mazepa died suddenly at the age of 40 earlier this month, and the Motopark team that had operated the programme then declared that it would no longer be involved.

Russian Time announced on Wednesday that iSport personnel would return to run the operation for 2014, and that it had signed '12 GP3 champion and Mark Webber protege Evans, plus German Formula 3 runner-up Artem Markelov.

Evans drove for Arden in his rookie GP2 season last year, taking four podium finishes.

Fellow 19-year-old Markelov finished second to Marvin Kirchhofer in German F3 last year and then tested Russian Time's GP2 car during the winter.

Motopark said it had lined up Kirchhofer, along with Jimmy Eriksson and Markus Pommer, for a seat in Russian Time's GP3 programme before it split with the organisation.

2014 GP2 line-up so far: Russian Time Mitch Evans Artem Markelov Carlin Julian Leal Racing Engineering Raffaele Marciello DAMS Jolyon Palmer Stephane Richelmi ART Stoffel Vandoorne Takuya Izawa Hilmer Daniel Abt Facu Regalia Rapax Simon Trummer Arden Rene Binder Andre Negrao Caterham Alexander Rossi Rio Haryanto MP Daniel de Jong Trident Lazarus Campos Arthur Pic Kimiya Sato
