Kovalainen Expects Strong Race

The Finn was fast throughout qualifying and claimed the provisional third spot for tomorrow's grid.

However, this position is currently under review with the race stewards, along with those of four other drivers, for potentially setting their fastest laps while the yellow flag was being shown as a result of a spin by Olivier Pla.

When asked how good his best lap was, Kovalainen noted: "It was okay - I'm not happy with it because obviously I would like to be first, but I think with our car we will be able to be strong in the race.

"It didn't feel great, like it should with a new car, but that's life - one tenth off the pole can't be too bad."

Despite the review, Kovalainen felt that he should be able to hold on to third.

"No one has said anything to me - I just arrived after he had a spin, so as far as I know I didn't go through the yellow flags flat out, but we'll see.

"He [Pla] just spun in front of me and the guys were just coming as I arrived, but if they want to throw me out what can I do? But I think I shouldn't have a problem."

Kovalainen refused to get bogged down on any potential penalties for the race.

"Rather than sort of think about this too much I am instead looking forward to tomorrow - I think tomorrow is going to be okay, because we've come through the field from worse and further behind, so it should be okay.

"There are a couple of good places where you can overtake, and obviously I will try and push ahead straight away, but otherwise we'll try and get ahead with the pitstop or something - I think definitely we will have the pace.

"Obviously we'll try and win tomorrow no matter where we start, although of course if we start last it will be more difficult!"
