Jolyon Palmer certain he can fight for 2013 GP2 title

The 21-year-old has switched to Carlin for his third GP2 campaign this year, having previously raced with iSport and Arden.

Palmer, who scored his maiden GP2 victory in Monaco last season, finished 11th in the 2012 standings.

Speaking on the AUTOSPORT Stage with KX at AUTOSPORT International, Palmer reckons that his experience coupled with Carlin's strong showing last year should allow him to push for the title.

"After two years I am ready and I am aiming for the championship," said Palmer.

"Hopefully, with my experience and the support of the Carlin crew around me, we've got everything in place to take the title."

Carlin finished fifth in the teams' championship in 2012 with Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto.

Chilton won twice and subsequently secured a Marussia Formula 1 drive.

Palmer sees their performance in Carlin's sophomore season as reason to be confident for the year ahead.

"They are a very good team and they're on the pace. They had Chilton last year who was very quick and I hope to be too."
