Herck penalty gives D'Ambrosio pole
Michael Herck has lost his first GP2 pole having been adjudged to have gone too fast under yellow flags in Spa qualifying today
The Belgian DPR driver had topped qualifying for his home race in a chaotic session delayed by heavy rain and interrupted by a string of red flags for accidents.
But he has been given a three-place penalty for the yellow flag infringement so falls to fourth on the grid, with countryman Jerome D'Ambrosio (DAMS) now becoming the Belgian on pole.
Championship leader Pastor Maldonado advances to second for Rapax, with iSport's Oliver Turvey raised to third alongside Herck.
Also penalised for the same offence were Racing Engineering duo Christian Vietoris and Dani Clos, Coloni's returnee Alvaro Parente, Ocean driver Max Chilton, Trident's Johnny Cecotto, and Super Nova pairing Luca Filippi and Marcus Ericsson - although the latter's penalty was earned in free practice rather than qualifying.
All had qualified outside the top 10 bar Vietoris, who drops from fifth to eighth and allows Romain Grosjean to move up to fifth for DAMS.
