Hancock to replace Kiesa at Hockenheim
Sportscar driver Sam Hancock is on standby to make his Formula 3000 International debut in this weekend's race at Hockenheim with Super Nova, taking the place of Minardi F1 driver Nicolas Kiesa
The British driver, who has limited top-line single-seater experience, tested for the team at Snetterton on Monday and is reported to have lapped just over a second off the times of Super Nova regular Enrico Toccacelo.
One of the main sticking points to the deal, however, is whether Hancock can obtain an International A licence that is required for F3000. His manager, Piers Hunnisett, said: "It should be a formality."
Super Nova boss David Sears said that Hancock will not be under any pressure to perform at the same level as the pacesetters in the series.
"We have to be realistic," said Sears. "He is not a straight substitute for Nicolas."
Michael Keohane will continue to race for Astromega at Hockenheim, but has yet to commit to the final two races of the season.
