Hamilton still on top at Valencia
Lewis Hamilton continued to set the pace in testing for this weekend's GP2 series' season opener at Valencia, beating his best from yesterday by almost a second
Hamilton's lap of 1:18.625 was nearly four tenths of a second quicker the next best of the day, set by Nelson Piquet Jr.
Hamilton set his blistering time in this morning's three-hour session, as most of the teams worked on qualifying runs in preparation for Saturday's morning's qualifying session.
Teams chose not to focus on outright laptimes this afternoon, opting to worked on longer runs and race set-ups.
Spits of rain also affected this afternoon's running, while times in the morning session were aided by increased cloud cover over the Spanish circuit.
Piquet, who was quickest in the slower afternoon session, topped a group of seven drivers who were within a quarter of a second of each other, proving that qualifying will be a close run thing for this weekend's race.
Jose Maria Lopez was third quickest, ahead of Adrian Valles of Campos Racing entry.
With no more free practice left, teams have a day off tomorrow before going straight into qualifying on Saturday morning. The season's first race will be held on Saturday afternoon.
