Grosjean targets return to title form

Romain Grosjean believes he can pick up in GP2 where he left during 2009, fighting for the championship

The 24-year-old was just 12 points behind Nico Hulkenberg in the '09 GP2 standings when he stepped up to replace Nelson Piquet Jr at Renault for the European Grand Prix at Valencia.

After losing his seat at Renault for 2010, he returned to GP2 for eight races with DAMS - finishing on the podium twice.

Now Grosjean has signed up for a full season with DAMS and expects to be in title contention again.

"It's a big challenge that DAMS and I are taking up in 2011," he said. "In just a few races last year the team welcomed me with open arms, and I soon understood that we were linked by a common objective - to make it to the top.

"Today I'm counting the hours that separate me from our first test together, given the strength of my relationship with each of the team members from both a human and professional point of view.

"I've got no doubts about the level of performance of the cars prepared by DAMS, and I know we'll get the best out of them. We'll all chase the title together."

Grosjean will be joined at DAMS this year by GP3 graduate Pal Varhaug.

DAMS boss Jean-Paul Driot added: "We're hoping to be among the front-runners in 2011. Romain's experience combined with the talent of Pal Varhaug has given our title ambitions a serious boost."
