F2 testing: Albon tops final day of 2017 testing
Alexander Albon topped the final day of the Formula 2 post-season test in Abu Dhabi and set the fastest overall time of the three days for DAMS
Norman Nato set the day's second fastest time for Rapax - which was missing from the recently released 2018 F2 teams' entry list - and Prema Racing's Nyck de Vries.
With most of the drivers' concentrating on race simulations and long runs in the morning session, with the two on-track F2 segments split either side of the final GP3 test session of 2017, the evening running produced the fastest times.
MP Motorsport's Louis Deletraz, de Vries and Nato all had turns at the top of the times, before Albon put in an effort of 1m48.110s - shortly after Leonard Pulcini, who raced for Arden in GP3 in 2017, crashed his Campos-run car at Turn 3.
That incident brought out the red flags for five-minutes as the barriers were rearranged, with Albon then moving to the top with his best lap, which was ultimately 0.005s quicker than Nato.
De Vries was 0.27s slower than Albon on the day, but the McLaren Formula 1 junior's lap was still good enough to put him fourth overall in the best times from across all three days of the test.
Albon heads that list from Nato - their best laps from today were good enough to bump Deletraz's quickest time on day one down to third quickest overall.
The 2017 GP3 runner-up, Renault Academy member Jack Aitken, finished fourth fastest on the final day for ART, ahead of Deletraz and DAMS driver Nicholas Latifi.
Haas F1 junior Arjun Maini - who held the top spot after the first session - ended up seventh for Russian Time, ahead of European Formula 3 regular Tadasuke Makino.
Oliver Rowland, the 2017 F2 runner-up to newly-confirmed Sauber F1 recruit Charles Leclerc, rounded out the top ten for Racing Engineering.
Another Haas F1 junior, Santino Ferrucci was 11th for Trident, just ahead of Antonio Fuoco (also Trident), who made his first appearance in the post-season test on the final day.
Honda protege Nirei Fukuzumi was 14th for Arden, ahead of McLaren's 2018 reserve driver and Carlin's F2 recruit for next year, Lando Norris.
Pietro Fittipaldi, the 2017 Formula V8 3.5 champion, completed his second day F2 testing - this time with Arden after driving for Trident yesterday - and finished in 18th spot.
Mercedes-backed 2017 GP3 champion George Russell ended the final day of the test in 19th place for ART.
