Ex-Manor F1 test driver King stays in GP2 with MP Motorsport
Former Manor Formula 1 test driver Jordan King will contest a third season of GP2 in 2017
The 22-year-old has signed with Dutch outfit MP Motorsport, with whom he will partner Sergio Sette Camara, having spent his first two campaigns with Racing Engineering.
King finished 12th in 2015 and seventh last year, taking two sprint race wins along the way, before testing with MP and Russian Time during the post-season Abu Dhabi running.
He raced with the Manor MP Motorsport tie-up in Formula Renault 2.0, finishing runner-up in the NEC category to fellow Briton Jake Dennis in 2012.
"I've known the team a long time and worked with them straight out of karting, so in a way it's a bit of a homecoming for me," King, who made two appearances in F1 practice sessions last year, said.
"One of the biggest reasons for me to join them was the level of trust that comes with such a longstanding relationship.
"Working with the team at the test was also a key factor in my decision.
"There is a great working relationship there with everyone in the team always working hard for you, but with a smile on their faces.
"Coming into my third year I've never been in a better place physically and mentally and I'm aiming to improve on my strong season last year."
MP has run in GP2 since 2013 and had its best season last year, finishing seventh in the teams' standings with Oliver Rowland and Daniel de Jong.
Its sole win in the category came in 2014, with former Lotus junior Marco Sorensen.
