Bruni targets title with Trident

Gianmaria Bruni has talked up his chances of winning this season's GP2 series

Bruni targets title with Trident

The former Minardi driver believes he can use his head and talent to win the second season of the championship, and he will be 'very fast' with the series' new team - Trident.

The team, who are jointly owned by Bruni's manager Maurizio Salvadori and AC Milan football star Clarence Seedorf, won the battle to join the grid this season, beating off strong opposition from Carlin Motorsport and Epsilon Euskadi.

"I'm going to run very fast, very fast," Bruni said. "But with my head on my shoulders. It will be a very tough championship but I seriously want to win. I will have to go fast, never give up and do everything right.

"They say that luck must be helped at times, but I will have to help it too because it will have to be fast as well. The team is efficient, compact and motivated."

At last month's Paul Ricard test, engine problems meant that Bruni was unable to set a laptime among the front-runners, however he believes his pace was ultimately there.

"Watching the others on the track while trying to make the fastest lap from the pit was frustrating but the job we did was good," he added. "I'm looking forward to the next test days to take my revenge."
