Arden target return to form in 2008

Team Arden boss Christian Horner says his GP2 squad plan to move up the grid in 2008 after a couple of difficult years

Arden target return to form in 2008

The former Formula 3000 champions were strong in the first year of GP2 in 2005 with Heikki Kovalainen, but they have since only won two races in the past two seasons.

The team have signed a major sponsorship deal with Dutch company Trust for 2008, though, and Horner believes that they can return to form this year.

Speaking on the main stage at the Autosport International show, Horner said: "Arden had an indifferent season in 2007. We won a race in Barcelona and for 2008 the motivation of the team has to be to win.

"The team have attracted title sponsorship from Trust, which offers stability and security, and Sebastien Buemi is a promising young driver."

Buemi is the only driver currently signed for Arden's main GP2 campaign this year, although a second driver should be announced in the next week, and Horner believes that this year's GP2 season will be as strong as ever.

"Sebastien is a promising young driver," Horner added. "He is part of the Red Bull junior programme, and hopefully in 2008 we can move back into the winners' circle regularly.

"I think it's going to be an interesting year. A new car has been introduced to the European series this year, it's a challenge for the team, and some teams will get on top of it better than others."
