Alexander Albon keeps ART on top on second day of Barcelona F2 test
GP3 runner-up Alexander Albon was quickest on the second day of Formula 2 pre-season testing at Barcelona
Albon, who was a close second to ART Grand Prix team-mate Nobuharu Matsushita on Monday's opening day of testing, headed the Tuesday running with a best lap of 1m28.255s set in the morning session.
The Anglo-Thai driver took over at the top of the timesheets in the second hour of running, following a red flag for a circuit inspection.
Rapax's Johnny Cecotto ran Albon close but came up 0.025 seconds short, while Russian Time's Artem Markelov was two tenths off in third.
DAMS driver Nicholas Latifi and early pacesetter Norman Nato (Arden) completed the top five.
Drivers were unable to match their fastest times from the morning for much of the afternoon session, with MP Motorsport's Jordan King leading the majority with a low-1m30s effort.
Prema's Ferrari junior duo Antonio Fuoco and Charles Leclerc took over at the top in the final hour, before McLaren protege Nyck de Vries (Rapax) capped off the afternoon session with a 1m29.233s - but Albon's best time of the day remained untroubled.
Overall 12 drivers surpassed Matsushita's Monday benchmark, the Japanese McLaren F1 protege the last among those runners.
Ex-F1 driver Roberto Merhi, testing with Campos found 1.4s compared to his opening day and finished the day 18th-fastest.
The Spaniard finished clear of only Nabil Jeffri and Gustav Malja, who had his morning session times wiped when his car was found to be underweight.
