Yann Cunha to drive for Pons Racing in 2012 and 2013

Pons Racing has signed Yann Cunha to complete its 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 line-up

Brazilian Cunha graduates from British Formula 3, where he endured a trying season with T-Sport. The 20-year-old, the 2010 Sudam Formula 3 champion, recorded more promising results in a limited European F3 Open campaign, clinching a win at Portimao.

Having run with Gravity-Charouz at Barcelona's post-season test, Cunha gained further Formula Renault 3.5 experience with Pons at the final collective test of 2011 at Motorland Aragon in November.

"I am thrilled about the prospect of making my World Series debut, and doing it with such a high-level team as Pons Racing," said Cunha. "The first contact, during the tests at Motorland, was extremely positive and I am anxious to be at the wheel of one of their cars."

Pons has announced that both Cunha and his, fellow rookie, team-mate Zoel Amberg will contest two seasons with the team.

Sito Pons, Pons Racing Team Principal, commented: "It is a pleasure to have Yann Cunha with us and to see that he has chosen Pons Racing for his debut in the World Series. Yann has great talent and a very determined approach, and together with Zoel Amberg, he will form a young and ambitious pair for 2012."
