Van Lagen: age means nothing
Jaap van Lagen believes that he is not too old to continue pursuing a single-seater career aged 31
The Dutch driver will race for reigning champions Comtec Racing in World Series by Renault this year, after he won the Renault Megane Eurocup in 2006.
Before last year he had raced in several junior single-seater categories, including World Series in 2005 with KTR.
Van Lagen competed in a handful of races for Comtec last season, but this year he will return to full-time action in the series.
"I'll be one of the most experienced drivers in World Series," he said. "But I want to demonstrate that nowadays racing in a top single-seater class is not about how young or old you are.
"I still believe I have more to give, and this year I will have a full season in a top team and I can show everybody my quality."
Van Lagen believes that with all of his previous experience in the category, he is now in a position to make the most of his opportunity.
"This will be my second year of World Series, because last year I only took part in three race weekends and I had no testing," he said. "This is about winning races, and I'm ready for it now."
