Tamas Pal Kiss eyes FR3.5 and GP3 deals for Hungarian rounds

Kiss finished second fastest in Auto GP's two Saturday free practice sessions before qualifying on the front row for Sunday's feature race.

Last weekend's one-round deal with Italian team MLR71 marked Kiss's return to the cockpit for the first time since testing last December. A sponsorship shortfall precluded a full-time seat for 2013.

Auto GP was the third single-seater category Kiss had sampled at the Hungaroring in nine months. Last season, Kiss took in race outings in GP3 and Formula Renault 3.5 at the Hungarian Grand Prix venue.

"The good thing with a Hungarian race is that all my sponsors are interested, and I am really working hard to find more sponsorship for the Hungarian World Series by Renault races," Kiss said.

"The grand prix weekend with GP3 might also be possible, but that's a bit of a different car.

"I think the Michelins [used by FR3.5] and Kumhos [Auto GP tyres] are not far away from each other, and the car characteristics of World Series and Auto GP are pretty close in terms of things like power and performance.

"It would be easier to jump into a World Series car rather than go back to GP3, but I would be really happy to drive anything."

STRAIGHT UP TO SPEED IN AUTO GP

Kiss was pleased to immediately be on the Auto GP pace given his absence from the cockpit.

"The biggest problem in testing [on Friday] was that the last time I drove a single-seater was at the beginning of December," explained Kiss.

"It was a long time that I was completely out, and you are always worried that you will lose speed. Saturday wasn't bad but my eyes obviously needed to get used to the speed and I forced myself too much."

Kiss shadowed eventual victor Kimiya Sato in the early laps of race one, before losing ground through a troubled pitstop. A fifth place finish was repeated in Sunday's final race.
