RC and GD unite for 2008 series

World Series by Renault and Formula Three Euroseries team RC Motorsport have joined forces with Great Dane Racing after the latter was declined an entry into this year's World Series

RC Motorsport ran Marco Bonanomi and Clivio Piccione in the World Series last year and finished sixth in the teams' championship. They will also continue with Volkswagen engines in F3 this year, running Maximiliano Gotz and Briton Martin Plowman.

GD Racing competed in the World Series for the last six seasons, but were not granted a place in the oversubscribed series this year.

Cristiano Giardina, GD's team manager, is a former employee of RC and is pleased to be returning to the team.

He said: "My professional life started with RC and I've always had a good relationship with them, even when we have been competing against each other."

RC's Carlo Migliavacca added: "We are continuing in World Series and F3 and in order to reach our targets in these championships, we felt it was best to improve our resources."

As part of the restructuring, the team will move to a new workshop in Milan in time for the start of this season.
