Practice: Carlin one-two

Narain Karthikeyan and Carlin Motorsport team-mate Bruce Jouanny topped the times after the first day of practice for round two of the Dallara Nissan World Series at Zolder

Karthikeyan made a small error at the hairpin on his way to a nest lap of 1m21.853s, but nevertheless it was enough to keep him at the head of the times after rain fell in between the session and dampened the track.

Jouanny used a fresh set of rubber to set the second fastest time, 0.175s down on his team-mate, but well over half a second clear of old British Formula 3 rival Heikki Kovalainen.

The Gabord Competicion driver was also third in the wet second session, which was headed by his championship leading team-mate Franck Montagny. Montagny set a best lap of 1m23.690s on slick tyres, to outpace local hero Bas Leinders by 0.4s.

RC Motorsport's new signing Carlos Pereira made an impressive debut by going fourth quickest in the second session, although his running ended in the gravel at Turn 1 near the end of the session.

Former Formula 1 drivers Enrique Bernoldi, who's switched to GD Racing and Marc Gene had trouble-free sessions. Bernoldi has recovered from the stomach bug which limited his Thursday track time to set the fifth best time in session one, while Gene stuck with wets in the second session to set the 16th best time.
