Pentus stays on at Fortec
Fortec Motorsport has announced that Estonian racer Sten Pentus will contest a second consecutive season of Formula Renault 3.5 with the team
With limited previous experience, Pentus gained plaudits in his debut season by finishing second in the opening meeting at Barcelona, on his way to 12th overall in the standings.
Fortec and Mofaz Racing, now Junior Lotus, ended their association in Formula Renault 3.5 over the winter but Richard Dutton's team will continue in the series under its own banner.
The forthcoming season will be the first year in Tallin driver Pentus's career where he will have the continuity of working in a known environment.
"The 2009 season was a big step in my career and we really built a great working relationship with Fortec," said Pentus. "I feel I made real progress on so many fronts. For this reason I am really pleased to be able to continue that relationship with Richard and the whole team.
"I know how much I have learned and improved since this time last year and I am determined to fight for the results we all believe can be achieved."
Pentus's team-mate is set to be confirmed following the second collective test at Jerez on 13-14 March. Sergio Canamasas, who tested for Fortec at the opening Formula Renault 3.5 test of the season at Barcelona last week, is set to sample Czech team ISR's machinery this time.
