New FR3.5 team KMP takes shape

Infant Formula Renault 3.5 team KMP Racing has confirmed that it has secured premises in Colomiers in south-west France and recruited many ex-Tech 1 staff, as preparations for its debut season take shape

Team owner Bruno Besson has revealed to AUTOSPORT that up to 80 per cent of KMP Racing's workforce will be sourced from Toulouse-based neighbour, and former Formula Renault 3.5 double teams' champion, Tech 1 Racing.

"My workshop is 10-15km away from Tech 1 because I didn't want all of the staff to have to uproot, and it is a good location logistically for the races," Besson told AUTOSPORT.

"[Tech 1 team boss] Simon [Abadie] wanted to find some different people to go in a new direction, and I think they will have a very successful year. My only relationship with Tech 1 is that Simon is a very good friend.

"It's a different situation to when Victory Engineering had a technical partnership with Carlin Motorsport [in 2006]. That is now absolutely forbidden, there is an explicit rule. I have cleared the situation with Renault Sport and it will not be a problem."

KMP Racing is understood to be looking for a second Russian driver to partner Anton Nebylitskiy.
