Monza, race 2: Sarrazin strikes back
Stephane Sarrazin atoned for his slow start to the first race by leading all the way for victory in the second Dallara Nissan World Series race at Monza
Again starting from pole position, he made a great start and instantly put a gap between himself and the chasing pack.
Fellow Frenchman Bruce Jouanny had followed him into the first chicane on the opening lap, followed by Bas Leinders, Narain Kartikeyan and first race winner Franck Montagny. Exiting this first corner, Montagny hit Leinders, removing the Belgian's rear wing. While Leinders opted to continue, even entering into a lengthy battle with Santiago Porteiro, Montagny pitted, had a new nosecone fitted and returned to claim the two points on offer for setting the race's fastest lap.
So, left alone in the lead, Sarrazin won as he pleased, heading home Jouanny and Karthikeyan. Fourth place was claimed by Jean-Christophe Ravier who appeared to find an advantage by making his obligatory pitstop early. This left him clear of Porteiro and Marc Gene who drove a stormer after being punted off on the opening lap.
