Marsoin completes Comtec's line-up

Alexandre Marsoin will complete Comtec's World Series Formula Renault Renault 3.5 line-up for 2009

The 19 year-old Frenchman fulfils the team's criteria of having an experienced driver on board to compliment their previous signing, Russian rookie Anton Nebylitskiy.

Marsoin finished third in the French Formula Renault 2.0 championship in 2007, but had a frustrating maiden season in Formula Renault 3.5 with Joan Villadelprat's Epsilon Euskadi last year.

Marsoin's highlight of the season was an impressive drive at the Hungaroring, where only a jump-start penalty for creeping prior to the green light denied him victory.

Tests with Tech 1 Racing, Prema Powerteam and Comtec last winter at Paul Ricard and Valencia were a prelude to his signing with the 2006 champions.

"I chose Comtec because I had a fantastic feeling with team at Le Castellet," Marsoin told autosport.com. "I only drove on old tyres, because at the end of the day there was rain, but their car was really strong.

"I also had a great feeling with the engineers and mechanics. They are really motivated after some problems last year to do a big job. With Anton, a rookie, in the other car, I think everyone will be looking to me (in the early races). After my year with Epsilon, that extra responsibility is something that I was looking for.

"I can't say that I will be the number one driver, but I'm sure that I will have the focus of the people around me. Next week I will go to Norfolk to visit the factory, and one thing that I am seriously considering is moving to England. It would be important for my English.

"Last year at Epsilon we had a good race at Hungary, where the car was really fast, but in race one I did a small mistake at the start. In the second race there I had a clutch problem, and unfortunately that was typical of the season. We had far too many problems.

"At Le Mans it was my fault, together with my engineer, but at Estoril I had a serious brake problem at the end of the main straight and it destroyed the car. I remember at Silverstone we were using the wrong fuel. It was just the worst year of my career.

"Next year World Series has a new television package on Eurosport. That's really important that we can connect more with the people like GP2. I am going to be totally concentrated on this year. I can feel the team have a big motivation, and I am sure we will not make the same mistakes as I had last year."
