Podcast: Reviewing Formula E's Berlin season finale
Stoffel Vandoorne led Mercedes to its maiden Formula E victory in the final round of the season as Nyck de Vries earned the team a 1-2 finish in Berlin
With Oliver Rowland also scoring his first series win in the preceding day's race on the extended Tempelhof Airport circuit, it showed that Nissan e.dams had finally recovered the ground lost when its twin-motor powertrain configuration was outlawed.
Although the four active series champions were forced into a recovery mission after a qualifying farce, the Vandoorne and Rowland triumphs suggest there could be two new teams in a position to challenge successive teams' title winner DS Techeetah next season.
However, their form proved too little too late as Antonio Felix da Costa wrapped up the 2019-20 crown in domineering fashion after only four of the six races in the German capital.
In the latest episode of the Current Affairs podcast, host Matt Kew is joined by Autosport's technical editor Jake Boxall-Legge to reflect on da Costa's superiority, to discuss how the championship's big names got it so wrong in qualifying, and to discuss if Mercedes and Nissan have really stepped up their game.
