London Formula E: Battersea track repairs succeed for Sunday race

A section of the London ePrix circuit in Battersea Park has been successfully resurfaced to allow the track to return to its original configuration for Sunday's Formula E Championship finale

The new surface, which has eradicated a sequence of bumps at the Turn 1 left-hander, was given the all-clear after the morning's first free practice session and will be used for the remainder of the meeting.

The changes have allowed the removal of an arrangement of TECPRO barriers, which reprofiled the first corner and shrouded the rogue section of track on the opening day of the Battersea Formula E double-header on Saturday.

Battersea race one report: Buemi win sets up title decider

FIA Formula E championship manager Frederic Espinos told AUTOSPORT: "We had no problems at all; everyone has done a really good job.

"We had nothing to lose by trying it, because if it hadn't worked we would have kept the TECPRO barriers."

The extra barriers were added after Jerome d'Ambrosio's Dragon Racing Spark-Renault SRT_01E broke a rear pull rod in the opening session of free practice and several other cars sustained damage to their underfloor planks.

No-overtaking yellow flags were subsequently displayed at Turn 1, which meant Saturday's race had to start behind the safety car.
