Formula E to feature in-race Fanboost voting for 2015/16 season
Formula E has confirmed Fanboost voting will be available in-race throughout the 2015/16 season, as predicted by AUTOSPORT
Fans will be able to vote for a revised power hike awarded to three drivers until six minutes into the race.
Last year that hike came in the form of a five-second boost to 180kW of power, up from the maximum race output of 150kW.
Because the championship has upped the maximum race output to 170kW for the second season, Fanboost recipients will now get an additional 100kJ of energy, to be used in a power window between 180kW and 200kW.
That boost, which remains applicable only in one go, will now only be available after drivers swap cars mid-race.
The method of voting has also been changed, with a partnership with engagement company Telescope allowing the series to open the system up to include hashtags used on social medial sites Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Voting will also continue to be available through the Formula E website and mobile app and will again open 12 days before the race takes place.
Fanboost for the opening round in China will open on Monday October 12.
The ability for fans to vote while the race is taking place rather than ahead of each event had been targeted by series CEO Alejandro Agag in the build-up to season two.
The series avoided in-race voting taking place in the first season because the FIA wanted the results of the vote to be properly audited.
