Formula E Hong Kong: Rosenqvist takes pole, Evans stars for Jaguar
Mahindra's Felix Rosenqvist claimed pole position for the second of the two Hong Kong Formula E races after denying Jaguar's Mitch Evans
Rosenqvist managed to avoid the barriers when he oversteered in the final part of his superpole lap to set a time of 1m02.836s.
Jaguar's Mitch Evans was slower than Rosenqvist in the first sector then bested him in the next two - but he ended up 0.054s adrift.
Evans then had his superpole time removed for exceeding the maximum allowed 200kW of power, and will start fourth.
Venturi's rookie Edoardo Mortara put in a superb effort to make it into the superpole session for his second FE race, but admitted to not executing his warm-up lap correctly and a slightly slower first sector left him third, 0.272s slower than Rosenqvist.
He inherits a front-row start with a time 0.001s faster than race one winner Sam Bird, who will be forced to start from 13th on the grid thanks to a 10-place penalty picked up for his pitlane incident on Saturday.
Bird's grid drop promotes Daniel Abt to third, although the Audi driver - who is celebrating his 25th birthday today - set the fastest first sector and was challenging for pole before clipping the wall and damaging his steering.
Bird's DS Virgin team-mate Alex Lynn will start fifth and Antonio Felix da Costa sixth, while yesterday's polesitter Jean-Eric Vergne had to settle for seventh.
NIO drivers Oliver Turvey and Luca Filippi will occupy eighth and ninth spots on the grid, just ahead of Nick Heidfeld.
FE's trio of champions had underwhelming sessions: Nelson Piquet Jr couldn't repeat Evans' heroics and will start 11th, while Lucas di Grassi also struggled and will start a lowly 12th.
Worst of all was Sebastien Buemi, who will start 20th after hitting the wall and damaging his Renault.
He props up the timesheets, just behind the Dragon pairing of Jerome D'Ambrosio and Neel Jani.
