Ex-Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli has stepped down from racing for his own team in Formula E, being replaced by former Aguri driver Salvador Duran

Duran joins Tonio Liuzzi in the Trulli line-up, with the team boss stepping away from driving duties after racing for his eponymous outfit in its first year.

Team principal Lucio Cavuto said Duran had made a strong impression in his drives for Aguri, which he joined from the fourth round of season one, taking a best finish of sixth in Moscow.

The Aguri deal had ended a four-year absence from single-seaters for the Mexican A1GP and Formula Renault 3.5 race-winner.

"He's a driver that we were looking at last year, and we have been very impressed with his improvements during the championship," said Cavuto.

The Trulli team has yet to run in pre-season testing with its new Motomatica powertrain, and Cavuto was pleased Duran committed to the project in the circumstances.

"We are very glad that he trusts us despite two difficult tests," he said.

"But we introduced him to our project and he saw how hard we're working and that our project is very ambitious.

"The fact that he knows the category will give him a lot as we won't be able to give him a lot of time in the car during pre-season testing."

The team is working to get Liuzzi out in the car during Monday afternoon's Donington Park test.
