Antonio Felix da Costa joins Aguri's Formula E line-up

Red Bull Formula 1 reserve and BMW DTM racer Antonio Felix da Costa will drive for the Aguri team in the 2014/15 Formula E season

Da Costa joins Katherine Legge in the line-up at ex-F1 driver's Aguri Suzuki's squad. The 22-year-old from Portugal drove the team's car in last month's shakedown test.

"I am thrilled by what I believe is the championship of the future," said da Costa.

"With Formula E we see history being made and I'm excited to be right at the heart of this new project.

"I have no doubt we'll see this championship drive real innovation and advances in technology."

The deal makes Aguri the seventh of the 10 FE teams to finalise its driver strength ready for this week's inaugural series test at Donington Park, which takes place on Thursday and Friday.

Team boss Mark Preston said da Costa's record - which includes a win in the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix as well as multiple triumphs in GP3 and Formula Renault 3.5 - made him highly sought after.

"Antonio has proven he's prodigiously quick at all levels of motorsport, from testing in F1 to winning races in Formula 3," said Preston.

"I'm confident the drivers we are assembling will make Team Amlin Aguri a serious podium threat and a force to be reckoned with."

Da Costa was a frontrunner for the Toro Rosso F1 seat left vacant by Daniel Ricciardo's move to the Red Bull team this year, but that drive eventually went to GP3 champion Daniil Kvyat, with da Costa instead heading to the DTM with BMW.
