Watts the story?

Our Formula 3 columnist Danny Watts will take part in this weekend's Japanese Formula 3 Championship at Motegi. Here he gives autosport.com a run-down of the weekend and his thoughts as the season draws to a close

M-Tec have invited me to compete in the final round of the Japanese Formula 3 Championship at Motegi this weekend in its Lola-Dome Mugen-Honda alongside championship runner-up JP De Oliveira.

It was an offer I could not turn down and a great opportunity to work with a completely new team with undoubtedly different ideas to what I'm used to racing in Britain with the Promatecme run Lola-Dome. I tested for the team at Suzuka two weeks before the F1 Grand Prix was there and it went very well. The circuit looks very challenging indeed as it is similar to Rockingham in that it is set within an oval race track.

On Friday I get two, one hour free practice sessions to acclimatise to the circuit and get the car set up for Saturday's two 15 minute qualifying sessions. The first race on Saturday afternoon will cover 14 laps while the second is slightly longer with 20 laps.

I am still somewhat jet-lagged and my sleep patterns are well and truly out of the window, but the weather has been very interesting. The last few days have seen torrential rain and last night we even experienced a typhoon, but the weather is supposed to be dry for the weekend! Where's John Kettley when you need him?!

I am really looking forward to this challenge and am aiming for a couple of wins to finish off my season on a high before heading to Macau with Hitech Racing.

Game on...
