Snetterton 3: Kerr extends points lead

The Alan Docking Racing driver led from start to finish, while points rival James Courtney could only take sixth after an excellent race. Kerr has now gone from a two-point deficit to Courtney before the weekend to an advantage of 21 points with two rounds and four races to go.

Scholarship class star Robert Dahlgren ran second at the start, but decided that mixing it with the top class runners would risk his chances of a win and dropped back. But a clutch input shaft broke and denied him a well-earned Scholarship victory.

Bruce Jouanny finished second to Kerr, ahead of Heikki Kovalainen and Ronnie Bremer who fought past Stefan de Groot for third and fourth.

Courtney's sixth place was actually a good result for the Australian compared with what might have been. He only started a lowly 10th and dropped two more places at the start when he was forced on to the grass by a pair of battling Scholarship cars.

But he fought back to enjoy an entertaining duel with Mark Taylor, coming out ahead of the Manor Motorsport driver.

With Karun Chandhok and Stephen Colbert's battle for the Scholarship win ending in a clash at Riches on the last lap, Adam Carroll was left clear to take the class honours and eighth overall. It was a lucky race for the Sweeney driver. When Clivio Piccione had stalled and retired on the start line, he was automatically handed the Scholarship championship crown for 2002.
