Rossiter Dominates Race Two

Briton James Rossiter took a dominant win in race two of the first round of the Formula Three Euroseries at the Hockenheim circuit

Frenchman Loic Duval was second, albeit over 14 seconds behind Rossiter, while Briton Lewis Hamilton, winner of the first race on Saturday, completed the podium in the event, which took place on a very damp track.

Rossiter, fourth in yesterday's race, led right from the start after passing pole setter Paul di Resta, who spun at the first corner. Rossiter came initially under pressure from Hamilton, but the Signature-Plus driver managed to open the gap quickly.

"I made a perfect start and my race was just fantastic," said Rossiter. "In the early stages, Hamilton was able to match my pace, but then I managed to open a gap I could defend until I crossed the finish line."

The Signature-Plus team completed a one-two finish after Duval found his way past Hamilton in the latter part of the race.

"Today's result isn't too bad, but I could have won the race," said the Frenchman. "Unfortunately I made a bad start, thus dropping back to fifth place. Afterwards, I had a great race."

Hamilton, struggling with his tyres in the latter part of the race, left Hockenheim delighted after finishing on the podium twice, which allows him to lead the championship ahead of Rossiter.

"The entire weekend was just perfect," Hamilton said. "My race was really great, but after five laps, my tyres' performance degraded, thus offering James the opportunity of opening a gap on me. But all in all I'm quite happy as I've scored many valuable championship points."

Rookie Sebastian Vettel continued with his impressive debut weekend, finishing in fifth place behind Dutchman Giedo van der Gerde. Argentine Esteban Guerrieri was sixth ahead of his teammate Richard Antinucci.
