Rossi seals Hungaroring victory

Alexander Rossi has taken his second GP3 win of the season with a lights-to-flag effort in today's race at the Hungaroring

The ART driver made a good start and saw off a challenge into the first corner from compatriot Josef Newgarden of Carlin to settle into a lead that he would never relinquish.

Newgarden was on track to finish second for an American 1-2 but his car stopped with a mechanical problem two laps before the finish, allowing Status driver Robert Wickens up to second. The Canadian had been stalking the lead duo all race, and his result was enough to prevent Esteban Gutierrez from wrapping up the title with two rounds to spare.

Carlin's Dean Smith had an uneventful run to third, with Stefano Coletti of Tech 1 finishing fourth after a race-long battle with Gutierrez. Jenzer's Nico Muller secured the final point.

While the race was processional up at the front, there were a few incidents further back in the field to liven things up. Addax's Felipe Guimaraes made an early exit after becoming the latest driver to launch off the back of another when he ran into MW Arden's Michael Christensen in the braking zone for Turn 1.

ART's Pedro Nunes' race also ended prematurely when he was hit by Doru Sechelariu at Turn 15 and sent barrel-rolling off the track.
