Red Bull junior Alex Lynn 'fed up' over not sealing GP3 title

Red Bull junior driver Alex Lynn said he came away from last weekend's Russian GP3 round "fed up" not to have sealed the title before the Abu Dhabi finale

The Briton was on course to wrap up the championship this weekend, but a race-two charge from Dean Stoneman enabled the 2010 Formula 2 champion to keep the title race alive.

"I'm a bit fed up that I didn't seal it this weekend," said Lynn. "Almost, but not quite.

"I'm not stressed about it but it's disappointing that it didn't happen here.

"The plan was to try and stay ahead of my closest title rivals in race two and wrap up the championship.

"I was sitting nicely there [in third], but I didn't really have an answer to Dean and Marvin [Kirchhofer]; they were a lot quicker."

Stoneman needs to take all 48 points on offer at Yas Marina next month with Lynn not scoring to snatch the title from his countryman, and the current points leader admitted that he is not concerned about wrapping up the title.

"We've had a difficult weekend in Russia, but I've come away as almost champion," he said.

"Not quite, but it's looking pretty good for me to wrap things up in the final round.

"I'm 47 points ahead with only 48 available - it's annoying and a bit frustrating, but we'll be going there not really questioning that we're going to win it.

"Our main focus will be on the teams' championship. Carlin really deserve it and it would be lovely if they won it."
