Qualifying 2: Klien maintains form
Marlboro Masters winner Christian Klien kept up his Formula 3 momentum by taking pole position for round 16 of the Euroseries at Zandvoort in Holland
The Austrian lapped his Mucke-run Dallara in 1m33.288s as Mercedes engines locked out five of the top six starting slots. A1-Ring double winner Ryan Briscoe was the only interloper amidst the Three-Pointed Star's massed ranks, the championship leader grabbing second on the grid for Sunday's race. The Australian can wrap up the title in Holland this weekend, although Klien is his closest challenger and determined to take it to the wire.
Oliver Pla was third fastest for the French ASM squad, which took three of the top six places. Klien's team-mate Markus Winkelhock will start fourth, ahead of Alexandre Premat and Bruno Spengler.
Of the British contingent, Adam Carroll qualified 21st in his KMS Dallara-Opel, while Jamie Green, who has taken Jan Heylen's seat at Team Kolles, was 23rd.
