Qualifying 1: Kerr grabs pole

Robbie Kerr gave his championship hopes a boost by claiming pole position for the first of tomorrow's (Sunday) F3 races at Snetterton

In a closely fought session, Kerr was over a tenth quicker than his nearest challenger, Fabio Carbone. Bruce Jouanny was just six thousandths slower than the Brazilian in third, while Heikki Kovalainen took fourth.

Unlike the top four, who all enjoyed clear runs, championship leader James Courtney found himself battling with traffic during his flying laps and as a result could do no better than fifth.

Next up is Scholarship Class pole winner Clivio Piccione. He was fractionally quicker than Rob Dahlgren, but champion-elect Adam Carroll struggled back in sixth. The Englishman is using a new tub this weekend after his big smash at Oulton Park last time out.
