Qual 2: Premat's pole

Alexandre Premat will start from pole position for race two of this weekend's Formula 3 Euroseries round at Brno, after blitzing the field in the opening qualifying session

Premat set a time over half a second quicker than his nearest challenger - in contrast, the next 10 places were covered by a similar amount. Newly-crowned champion Jamie Green lines up second to create an all ASM front row, while Mucke driver Bruno Spengler produced his strongest performance of the season to take third.

Dutch rookie Giedo van der Garde was the top Opel-powered driver in fourth, ahead of fellow rookie Franck Perera and Signature Plus team-mate Nicolas Lapierre. Briton Lewis Hamilton will start seventh for Manor, while Prema's Brazilian Roberto Streit completes the top eight.

Tom Kimber-Smith will start 19th, while former British F3 frontrunner Derek Hayes - making his first Euroseries appearance for Team Ghinzani, struggled and will start 25th.

Championship frontrunner Eric Salignon was not competing in the session and will miss the rest of the season after injuring his back in a road accident earlier this week. The Frenchman suffered two compressed vertebrae after rolling his road car, but is expected to make a full recovery. Also missing is Belgian Signature driver Greg Franchi who is unwell and recent Formula Renault graduate Kohei Hirate, who has family issues in his native Japan.
