Q Race: Green takes first blood

Green will start this afternoon's final from pole position as the results of this race set the grid for the main event. That means Perera is effectively out of the running and Green will need to watch out for the likes of Fabio Carbone and Nico Rosberg, who followed him in second and third.

Carbone (Three Bond Racing) was second throughout the race though he lacked the edge to stay with Green. After Perera's disaster Scotland's Paul di Resta was up to third, but he later lost the place to Nico Rosberg, who had worked his way up to fifth after also passing Marko Asmer (Carlin Motorsport).

There was good racing and plentiful outbraking going on down the field. A flying Nelson Angelo Piquet provided plenty of entertainment as he traded places with Lucas di Grassi. Piquet later had his sights on Richard Antinucci's sixth position, making a very late move to the American's inside. Antinucci spun as di Grassi hit him from behind, bringing out a red flag that stopped the race. That also saved the Tom's driver's position as the result was taken from the lap before.



Lewis Hamilton had a great start, moving up from 21st to 11th on the first lap. Di Resta's Manor Motorsport team-mate got embroiled in the dogfight in his vicinity, and briefly ran tenth (then twelfth) before claiming 11th in the results. Macau winner Alexandre Premat was far happier with his car today, but pulled in with a damaged wing after a clash with Piquet.
