Parente Takes a Rare Triple
Alvaro Parente earned a rare British F3 triple by taking another Monza win in this morning's final race.
The Portuguese driver's team Carlin Motorsport followed up two 1-2 finishes with a 1-2-3, as Charlie Kimball and Christian Bakkerud came in second and third.
Parente had a hard time in this race, not from Kimball this time but because he spun in the first corner. He had dropped out of the top ten on the first lap as a result, but made the comeback look absolutely effortless. Eight laps later he was back in the lead and never looked under threat until the flag.
Tim Bridgman came home second on the road but has been disqualified for ignoring a drive-through penalty issued for an infringement on the first lap. Dan Clarke got the same penalty but took it, which dropped him out of contention.
Mike Conway and Danilo Dirani were again scrapping hard for what could have been second, but collided at the second chicane on lap nine, which promoted Kimball and Bakkerud onto the podium.
Parente and Kimball are now first and second in the Championship, with Parente now clear favourite to claim the title as the season moves into its latter stages.
