Paffett closes in on Jaguar Racing deal
Last year's McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award winner Gary Paffett seems certain to join British Formula Ford champion James Courtney in Jaguar Racing's British F3 team next year

Paffett tested alongside Courtney, Guernsey's Andy Priaulx and American Alex Gurney at Oulton Park recently and is believed to be within touching distance of a deal. Courtney is already thought to have signed for the team, which has been renamed Jaguar Racing F3 from Stewart Racing in deference to the Formula 1 outfit.
"I'm pretty confident," Paffett told Autosport's sister publication Motoring News. "I think the tests have been really positive and I seem to get on well with the team. I'm just waiting on their decision now."
Team boss Bruce Jenkins told Autosport: "We're no further forward than we were six or eight weeks ago. I haven't seen a piece of paper fly between anyone yet."
Paffett, who won this year's Scholarship Class in the British F3 series, and Courtney were scheduled to test again for the team this week.
Alex Gurney, the son of racing legend Dan, also tested for Alan Docking Racing at Oulton Park. He was 0.2s slower than Carlin Motorsport's Anthony Davidson, and said: "I felt comfortable in the car and I hope to be in F3 next year." Docking's team then moved on to Donington Park, where it tested French F3 ace James Andanson.
