Nurb'ring race 2: Klien's sweep

Formula 3's man of the moment Christian Klien added another success to his blossoming resume at the Nurburgring today (Sunday), when he won the 12th round of the F3 Euroseries

After the disappointment of being taken out of yesterday's race by Nico Rosberg, Klien was once again outdragged off the startline by Mucke Dallara-Mercedes team-mate Markus Winkelhock, but grabbed the lead back on the exit of the first corner and showed Winkelhock a clean pair of heels.

Although right in the thick of things at the first corner once again, Rosberg (Team Rosberg Dallara-Opel) kept his nose clean this time. He was well clear of Richard Lietz (HBR Dallara-Opel), Bruno Spengler (ASM Dallara-Mercedes), Robert Kubica (PREMA Dallara-Opel) and Olivier Pla (ASM Dallara-Mercedes) in what was a highly processional race until the fickle Eifel weather struck once again, and a rain shower sent the race into a frenzy.

Klien went off at Turn 1, but recovered just ahead of Winkelhock. The entire pack went off in varying degrees at the first corner, with the big loser being Pla who spun and dropped to ninth. Spengler got past Lietz, who ran through the gravel, for fourth. Philipp Baron spun down the escape road and was t-boned at speed by Fabio Carbone, leaving Baron with an injured wrist.

The race ended under the safety car, with Klien winning from Winkelhock, Rosberg, Spengler, Lietz and Kubica.
