Michael Lewis confident of making F3 European Championship grid
Michael Lewis is confident of being on the grid for the Formula 3 European Championship, despite time to secure a drive running out rapidly
The American, a race winner on his way to eighth in the F3 Euro Series last year, joined category newcomer Romeo Ferraris for the second day of last weekend's Barcelona test, replacing Riccardo Agostini.
After setting the 27th best time of the day, he admitted that he has "a couple of options" to choose from before the championship begins at Monza on March 23-24.
"My entire programme is centered around doing Formula 3 at the highest level this year," Lewis told AUTOSPORT.
"That means the FIA championship. F3 Open or the German series are not really options we're looking at.
"I don't have anything sorted at the moment, but we're working very hard on getting something together.
"There are a few options and I'm sure that when we settle on something it will be a good, solid programme."
Rival squad EuroInternational, which only ran one car at the Barcelona test, still has a seat available for 2013 alongside Red Bull junior Tom Blomqvist.
Lewis has also been linked to drives with URD Rennsport and Van Amersfoort Racing and is understood to have been on the verge of joining Signature before the French team cancelled its F3 return late last month.
