Manning plays down Beltoise clash

Darren Manning was quick to play down his clash with Julien Beltoise at the end of opening qualifying, but still accused the Frenchman of dangerous driving during qualifying for the Korean Grand Prix

The winner of the Macau Grand Prix tapped the back of Beltoise's car as the pair headed down the pit-lane and gesticulated with his hands to express his anger at being blocked on his fastest lap.

'I was blocked at the chicane by him,' said Manning. 'I came out of the final corner before the long straight and I could see that Beltoise was quite a distance ahead of me. But as we came to the chicane he came to a virtual standstill. I nearly went off and crashed as I avoided him.

'That not only messed up that lap, but the next two as well as I still had to overtake him again.

'I am really frustrated because the car felt good and I was comfortable with everything.

'I said a few words to him as I got out the car, but I don't think he understood me!'
