Le Mans race 1: Rosberg's maiden victory

Nico Rosberg scored his first win in the Formula 3 Euroseries at Le Mans in France today, the son of former world champion Keke overcoming polesitter Christian Klien at the first corner

Le Mans race 1: Rosberg's maiden victory

Rosberg (Rosberg Dallara-Opel) made a fantastic start from the second row of the grid and grabbed the lead from Klien going into the Dunlop chicane. Despite his Austrian's rivals efforts from then on, Rosberg held on to win by 0.7secs.

"I am very happy," said Rosberg. "I got a very good start because I think I am the only driver who watched the start of the race before ours. The system of lights is not the same as in the other races. I thought it could have been difficult to keep Christian behind me but I pushed very hard and it was OK."

Klien said: "The start was not so bad, but Nico made a better one. I could follow him but I had no chance to overtake because it was difficult at the end of the race with the tyres. Anyway, I am very happy with this second place."

Briscoe (Prema Dallara-Opel) took third, ahead of the battling ASM Dallara-Mercedes cars of Olivier Pla and Alexandre Premat. Fabio Carbone (Signature Dallara-Renault) was sixth.

1 Nico Rosberg (Team Rosberg) Dallara-Opel 18 laps

3 Ryan Briscoe (Prema Powerteam) Dallara-Opel +7.546s
4 Olivier Pla (ASM) Dallara-Mercedes +8.607s
5 Alexandre Premat (ASM) Dallara-Mercedes +9.725s
