Knockhill qual 1: Piccione stuns rivals
Clivio Piccione stunned the British F3 fraternity by setting pole position in first qualifying at Knockhill this morning. The Manor Motorsport driver, whose best result so far this season was a sixth place finish, was visibly using more kerbs than anyone else over the notorious chicane
Nelson Angelo Piquet's effort, which put him second on the grid, was just as impressive given that the young Brazilian had not even seen the Scottish circuit until testing yesterday.
Richard Antinucci was the fastest of the Carlin boys with Autosport Young Driver Jamie Green just behind him, while Steven Kane, the first scholarship runner, was right up there in fifth place.
Carlin's Ronnie Bremer rounded out the top six ahead of a disappointed championship leader Alan van der Merwe. The South African was fastest in yesterday's testing session and has clearly lost ground to his rivals this morning.
Menu Motorsport's Rob Austin was eighth fastest ahead of Alan Docking Racing's Will Davison and Fairuz Fauzy.
