Kiesa takes first F3 win

Nicolas Kiesa took his first Formula Three race victory in the second of this weekend's two Donington Park races, finishing 4s clear of returnee Andrew Kirkaldy

It was a hard fought victory for the polesitter, beaten away at the lights by both Kirkaldy and Takuma Sato, whose lightning getaway from fifth position would soon earn the Japanese driver a stop-go penalty for jumping the start.

When he pitted, Kiesa moved up to second and from there he wasted no time in passing Kirkaldy with a sweet move around the outside at Redgate corner.

Kirkaldy hung on to take second place, compensation for race one where a collision with Gianmaria Bruni meant he finished out of the points despite starting on the front row.

Series leader Antonio Pizzonia was third, increasing his points advantage over title rival Tomas Scheckter, who could only manage sixth position.

Gary Paffett again won the Scholarship Class to secure the class title and the 125,000 pound prize fund earmarked for any British winner of the category. He has been unbeaten in the class all year and is likely to move up to the top division for the rest of the season.
