The former Spanish Formula Three driver, who is backed by former World Champion Damon Hill, took pole by just five thousands of a second from Ryan Lewis, who in turn was just five hundredths in front of American Charlie Kimball.

Bruno Senna had his best qualifying result so far in fourth, one spot ahead of Donington pace setter Marko Asmer. Series leader Danilo Dirani has continued to struggle at the Belgian circuit - he will start from ninth place on the grid, and was a second off the wet pace of Kane.

Josh Fisher was the National class pace setter in the session, lapping 1.3 seconds ahead of Salvador Duran.
