Juncadella wins final Spielberg race

Daniel Juncadella made it a clean sweep for Prema Powerteam at Spielberg by winning the third F3 Euro Series race at the Austrian circuit

The Spaniard led away from pole positioned and, after pulling out a two-second lead within the first three laps, was able to drive to a comfortable victory.

It was not a good race for his Prema team-mate Roberto Merhi, who retired after colliding with Felix Rosenqvist's Mucke car at the Power Horse Kurve on the opening lap as the pair disputed second place.

Merhi's championship lead was cut to 28 points as a result, with Juncadella now having replaced Marco Wittmann as his biggest title threat after the Signature driver - who had been running fifth - retired with a technical problem with 10 laps to go.

More than 5s behind Juncadella by the chequered flag was Mucke driver Nigel Melker, with Tom Dillmann next up for Motopark. It was the Frenchman's first Euro Series podium for almost three years.

Daniel Abt held up a train of five cars for the opening 10 laps, but pulled over 3s clear during the second half of the race to take a comfortable fourth place ahead of his Signature team-mate Carlos Munoz.

Jimmy Eriksson (Motopark) shook off the advances of Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) to take sixth while Gianmarco Raimondo continued his improved form since moving to Prema in eighth. Kuba Giermaziak (Star) and Kimiya Sato (Motopark) rounded out the finishers.
