Jack Harvey wins Silverstone F3 penalty appeal

British Formula 3 ace Jack Harvey has won his appeal against his 30-second time penalty from the recent round at Silverstone

Jack Harvey wins Silverstone F3 penalty appeal

Harvey was relegated from second to 12th place in the second race of the weekend after being found at fault for a collision with Pipo Derani as he battled to take the lead.

The MSA, British motorsport's governing body, heard the appeal on Wednesday afternoon and has reversed the verdict, reinstating Harvey's Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen in second place.

He gains 14 points after the appeal victory, while championship leader and Carlin team-mate Jazeman Jaafar has lost three points due to being moved back from second to third in the results.

The effect is that Jaafar, Felix Serralles and Harvey enter this weekend's final round at Donington Park separated by just six points, with Jaafar on 279, Serralles on 276 and Harvey on 273.

Alex Lynn, who has a slim outside chance of the title, has dropped to 224 points after being relegated from fifth to sixth in the results.
