Hamilton Wins Marlboro Masters

Lewis Hamilton won his second straight international Formula Three race with a clear victory in the Marlboro Masters at Zandvoort today

The British ASM Dallara-Mercedes driver followed up last December's win in Bahrain, easily seeing off the challenge of his teammate Adrian Sutil.

The pair shared the front row of the grid and went into Tarzan corner in that order, which didn't change for the rest of the race.

As Hamilton steadily pulled clear, Manor Motorsport driver Lucas di Grassi turned up the heat on Sutil, finishing less than a second behind the German.

Di Grassi's teammate Paul di Resta was gaining on this pair after dropping to fifth with a mistake on the first lap, but settled for fourth ahead of Kohei Hirate (Team Rosberg).

"This was a perfect weekend for me," Hamilton said after the race. "My win may have looked easy - but it wasn't. Following my good start I succeeded in opening a gap on Adrian, and then I focused on keeping the gap on a constant level to save my tyres."

His teammate Sutil commented: "I'm truly delighted to have finished second in the most prestigious European F3 race - even if I could have delivered an even better performance, today. But Lewis was just faster, so the result is fine for me."

Third place finisher di Grassi was equally content with his result. "In the Marlboro Masters it's vital to secure a good grid position. As overtaking is extremely difficult, on this track, I knew that it would be anything but easy to pass Adrian. Therefore, I'm happy to have finished third."
