Hamilton Takes Second Pole

The pair were in separate groups for the session and it was Hamilton who again came out on top with a best time of 1:10.490 - an impressive five tenths quicker than his teammate.

The result means that Hamilton has extended his lead at the head of the Championship standings by two points, thanks to the award given to the fastest qualifier.

"It is great to get the two points and gives me a perfect chance for the race," said Hamilton, who set his best time with two minutes of the session remaining. "Yesterday we had some play in the steering and the guys changed it last night, so it was much better."

The group system meant that although Franck Perrera set the second fastest time overall, he will only line up third on the grid because Sutil's top-time from his session guaranteed him second spot.

Perera grabbed third on the grid in the closing seconds of his session after Loic Duval had clipped the barrier and cut short his running on what would have been his quickest lap.

James Rossiter will start fourth, but was left cursing himself for making a mistake at Monument on what would have been his quickest lap. "I think I could have beaten Sutil," he said. "I was four tenths up on my best but got way out of shape at Monument. Still I am quite happy with my two fourth places for the race."

Duval will start fifth, ahead of Paul di Resta who recovered well from his hefty crash on Friday. Signature's Guillaume Moreau will start seventh, ahead of Esteban Guerrieri in the Team Midland car.
